Last updated: July 2026. Plotluck is a small app for deciding what to watch or where to eat with friends. This page explains, in plain language, what it stores and how you stay in control.
The short version: No account, no password, no email required. We don't sell your data or run ad trackers. Everything tied to you lives under a random ID on your device, and you can delete all of it at any time with the “Delete my data” button in the app.
What Plotluck stores
A random device ID. When you first open Plotluck, your browser generates a random ID (not linked to your name, email, or phone). Your taste is stored under this ID so the app can remember what you like.
Your swipes & lists. The titles and restaurants you like, your watchlist/hotlist, any ratings or notes you add, and restaurants you save as “want to try.” Passes are kept only for the current session.
The name you type when you join a room — shown to the others in that room so they know who's swiping. Use a nickname if you prefer.
Approximate location — dinner mode only. If you choose “find spots near us,” your browser shares your location once so we can look up nearby restaurants. It's attached to that dinner room (which auto-deletes after 6 hours), not to your long-term profile. You can skip it and type a neighborhood instead.
Notification subscription — only if you turn it on. If you enable notifications, we store the browser push token needed to alert you when your group matches. You can turn it off anytime.
What we don't do
No selling or sharing your data for advertising.
No third-party ad/analytics trackers embedded in the app.
No accounts, passwords, or email collection.
